How did you lowered the Gamma dude? Any software? It does look like a gamma calibration issue.
does android let you set the gamma settings via command line like on Linux?
eg. xgamma -gamma 1.000
Using linux as an example, it looks like the Z is set to 1.200 gamma, where .900 would suit most people's needs better.
Check it.

lowered gamma to .75
Irfanview for Windows. How did you lowered the Gamma dude? Any software?
Agree. With high brightness it looks like there are too much light on the panel and make blacks looks grey...Xperia Z has an Opticontrast panel too...
I think it's just a matter of screen calibration (gamma, contrast, etc...).
And about view angles, I'm pretty sure that the problem come from the backlight, that need to be very powerfull because of the 1080p resolution.
Put the phone on the table and surf web. Do you want to see your phone vertically in this case?i recieved my xperia z yesterday and to be honest was very fearful with reading all these reviews but i really have no issue with my phone the screen is nothing short of great friend of mine who uses iphone 5 even made comment on the clarity of the screen.
I understand why people are making comments on viewing angles but to be honest i cant understand how anyone with half a brain would use their phone on an angle lol i mean come on guys whats going on. watching movies on screen so small i really dont know why anyone would do that i cant even watch a movie on those old 68cm screen tvs anything under 42 inches and your just wasting your viewing pleasure, the screen is amazing so all of you who are holding back your missing out
Take a photo by using a camera, otherwise no Amoled screen is saturated.Mine dosnt look half as bad. This is at half brightness.

I have a Note 2, and its screen is great when I see it alone or compare to other Amoled screens. But white is not very good when compering to an IPS screen. My phone is uk and my screen looks nothing like that. Mine is great

Hahaha
hey u can change the contrast settings on s3 - Settings-->Display--->Screen ModeI checked the demo unit available today at a store. Phone was fast and smooth. No sign of any lag or stuttering.
About the display , its sure is washed out in UI but while watching photos and videos it looks good to me. Sure its not as saturated as my S3 but there is nothing one cannot like it. Viewing angles are not that bad. Better than Xperia S. I think once people start using it, they will get accustomed to it. Not a deal breaker.
One thing i found that speaker output is bit on low side. Surely Looks and design are headturner. I think it wont be a flagship phone for sony for long but also it wont be a flop phone.Lets see how development of ROMs goes for this phone. I will buy it if it gets AOSP ROMs fully working.........I really hate samsung for its closed source policy
