I know a lot of you guys mean well..... but you do realize a screenshot is no indicator of screen quality right???? You have to take a picture of the ACTUAL SCREEN.

Also in order to know how the screen really looks, you need to see it with your own eyes. By looking at it through another screen you are biasing the image with your TV/Monitor settings.
It is interesting though.

Moreover, I suppose, that ubiquitous grey colour in stock theme isn't too beautiful. Can this be changed? I think, that black colour will be look a lot better.

some owners of the device say that the Xperia Z screen gets better during some time of usage -within a week or so- its like the screen need to get warm up to boost its color and contrast.. anyone can confirm that?
Damn. Really Sony? Its too bad the Z screen isnt that great cause i love the design but the screen is so was.hed outJudge for yourselves.
I don't know if OP had a lemon or one with bad screen, but my Xperia Z screen (having jdc display) is nothing like that. I bought it a couple of days back and to my eyes the screen is gorgeous! It's more like the one shown on right in every pic posted by OP. If u like the XZ, do check out the screen yourself (of a retail unit, if possible) and don't simply judge it by such random posts (refuted by majority here). I even have a ZL (sharp display) with screen not as bad either!

Oh.. ok! I just wanted to tell you that mine doesn't look like the one posted in OP as you seemed pretty much moved by it. Never asked you to believe me, just suggested to check out the phone concerned yourself & believe what you see with your own eyes, but never mind as you seem rather happy to find this post. Btw, don't get me wrong, I'm not here to convince you or anybody else about anything. You are free to believe whatever you want!
I can confirm it's not a lemon unit. There's another demo unit in another shop and the results were fortunately similar.
Cool. Nevertheless, how do you explain 95% of the reviews and many users reporting that the XZ has a washed out screen? You may have one of the only models that are not affected by it i guess...

my Xz doesn't look like that.. the colors are not washed out I have a great screen just like the pic in ion.. I have a JDC panel.. maybe other Xzs if they have that washed out colors only need to be calibrated..

See the post above & please go through this thread if you will, and you shall realise that i'm not the only XZ owner without such poor screen as shown here. I believe what I see and not what the reviewers say, compare things myself (of course after reading reviews) and choose what fits me better. Btw, the OP shows the screen difference compared to Ion and I believe most other reviews say screen to be "washed out" wrt other flagships like SAMOLED on the S3/S4 (which imo have oversaturated colours). I'm saying this coz I've had note2 in the past (always used natural mode) & have compared XZ to Ion & my previous XS screen but don't find XZ screen to be worse than any of them.

I prefer the term "realistic colours"
. I just took a photo of an apple in my house and there was very little difference in the colour of the real thing and the picture 
It is viewing angle issue that cause it. Normal look won't have any washed out issue.
