On eSato, randomuser confirmed the existence of the Sony C670X :

Wait for that one and then you will hear stuff about the next phone after that and wonder if you should wait again. Don't play the waiting for the next great device game because there is always a better one just down the road.

The thing is i always buy Sony phones. And i am consciously not going to wait for the next big thing - after the c670x. The thing i wanna know is, is C670x going to be drastically different, or the changes in specs aren't going to matter that much. i understand, considering its still in a speculation stage its going to be difficult to differentiate. but what do you guys think?

i mean is the ppi increasing and the screen becoming smaller to 4.8" - will it really be a marked difference.
1.8 ghz - will it really suck so much power that that the batt life decreases drastically.

Wait for that one and then you will hear stuff about the next phone after that and wonder if you should wait again. Don't play the waiting for the next great device game because there is always a better one just down the road.

Depends when your phone contract runs out. Mine runs out on 4th September so I'm going with the C670X (as it releases around June-August time) or any better Sony phone that's out by then. There is going to be a HUGE Sony mobile 2013 Leak in April anyway, and if xperiablog haven't already/don't post my information that I have, by Thur 14th, then I'll let you guys know here. Hint: I managed to finally piece some information together as advised by Rubenos

On eSato, randomuser, Detox and maiaramdan confirmed the existence of three H2 or Q3/4 2013 Sony phones: Sony C670X ('Honami') - although the C670X could possibly be called the 'Togari' (see below), Sony C680X ('Gaga') - although this will quite likely be called the Sony Xperia 'ONE' (see below) , and the Sony C550x ('Dogo'):

randomuser explicitly confirmed the Sony C670X and the Sony C680X, when he said "Guys, no discussion on these please I can reveal one though. C670X = phablet. "

There was also some very good speculation from some users:

C670X = Phablet without water-proof...
C680X = Phablet with water-proof... Now give me nobel prize please... " which would be in-line with Xperia 5/5R rumours from December 2012, with the 5R being the dust/waterproof variant of the Xperia 5.

So there is the Z with 5" screen and S4 Pro Quad and FHD and Adreno 320. I want to know this: If there would be a phone with the same SoC but with 4.6" screen and 7
20p display would that mean that the battery life would be higher because of less pixels to power and smaller screen size? Also, would the performance theoretically be up to twice as high because of only half the pixels to render?

my guess

because of time and competition, they have to unveil both before everyone since they are still the under dog compare to everyone else in the market so they wont get over shadow easily. A early strong impression before everyone else is the best way to go. CES is just the right place to be. As for why not making ZL water proof, its because the phone is much harder to manufacture than Z due to its size. Getting their Water proof Z out to the markets they are stronger at first (EU and Asia) is the best thing they can do, that way the current Z owners still feel like the phones is classy premium phone and has advantage over the rival flagship devices like water proof etc even when the processor is the weakest of them all (which most ppl dont even care if the user experience is smooth). Release the ZL later on the weak markets like NA is all they can do because they know there is no way they can compete with Samsung or Apple no matter what kind of specs or gimmicks they are throwing out. Since the device is harder to manufacture, it also mean they will probably have supply issue if the demand is too high; the current Z is already facing this problem in EU according to the source from neogaf...... They are playing is save and smart, I just hope the Zl does ended up with S600, sony should include a turbo boost function in future update like PC that let the phone runs at the highest speed possible with the trade of of short battery life, but if an option is available its always good.

It seems Sony is quickly catching up, but they have a ways to go as far as slimming down their options and truly creating "One Sony". For example, I believe they have many technologies they try on some devices (touchless scrolling), but not others, or, their "flagships", in particular. Their phones look better but not necessarily "innovative" and Sony comes off a little timid. To me, for now, that's okay. I think they can do better than shoot for number 3, and believe they need to pace themselves. However, I hope they pick up the pace a lil...
