I have unlocked the bootloader and played with different firmwares found around here. For my XT1644 US retail (unlocked) there are supposed to be 3 firmwares: MJM 24.139-48 (my phone came with that one), the -49 that was supposedly given by a Moto rep to somebody here and a "newer" one -64. I never got any official OTA notification on my phone.
Well, to my surprise, the -64 firmware, has in the build.prop file this line:
"ro.carrier.subsidized=amz"
That's obviously NOT the correct firmware (Indian version is the only Amazon one that I know of) and even if seemingly was working, I had a number of weird things happening. Now I am back to the -49 one and that line is missing from the build.prop. Of course there are other changes probably that I didn't found, but take this as a warning.
