Xtrons tda696a

Hi all,
Ive got an xtrons tda696 with android 4.4.4_22072015
I have root access but wanted to check if there is any firmware or roms I can use.
chip is the rk3188 and mcu is MTCB-HZC-V2.69
Ive looked at all the roms and firmware here but the mcu doesn't appear to be listed.

Any help or suggestions please

I just installed this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60591423&postcount=12068 and it all works beautifully !! does not change the MCU !!

Hi Glad you managed to get it sorted out.
For root I used the a password which I found on here,but after looking for it again I cant find the thread.
Root gave me the abd shell and then I installed super user.
Reboot and installed root checker to confirm.

Pleased you managed to flash yours but which ver from the link did you use
Did you use the one for 800x480 or can you give the link directly to the download.
I just want to make sure that I install the correct one with no mistakes

Are these the download that you used dated sept 2015??

yes, 800x480, extract the file "update.iso" and put it in sd_GPS and in settings / system information, updates. after upgrading to Android, restore factory settings and erases data

Have you found any issue's or problems with the firmware as we seem to be the only users who have this unit.
Also what did you use to make a backup

what does it mean? you lost files? or memory is smaller? or do not see it right ?? did you do the factory reset ??

Hi again.
flash memory had increased form 1 to 2 gig as expected but the memory in the unit is 16gig was no longer showing or accessible.
Also yes after flash I did factory reset.

So what I have done now is reflash the unit again but used the rom with next launcher built in and then factory reset.
Full memory is now visible and usable.

I have noticed that my obd software will not find the blooth elm even though it is paired, I will have a play around with today to see if I can find the problem.
Also did you make a note of your units factory settings?? Maybe that could be the Bluetooth issue with obd.

Thanks again and I'm glad somebody else has the same unit as me so now I don't feel alone

I took pictures myself of all other settings but forgot about the factory settings.

Because it seems we are the only two that has the unit so far what do you think about it.
I changed from a pioneer appradio to have this instead.
So far I don't regret the choice

I feel too late to find this thread but...
Don't flash Malaysk ROM on Xtrons HU with MTCB-HZC.
Obviously they have fatal issue at screen backlight.
I confirmed same issue on TD696A and TD101A both of them.

Dear Users,

I have an Xtrons TD696A MTCB-HZC-v2.65 with current buildnumber rk3188-eng.4.4.4 22102015.20.28.27.
I'd like to install the Malaysk image on my unit but before I do this I would like to know a few things:

1). First I have to get root access on my device and install the application SuperSU (I have managed to do this)
2). After that I have to create a back-up but which application is the best to do this?

I have tried nandroid but it gives me an error 127.
Changing the shell did not make any difference.
Do I have to install busy box for this?

I have also red that making a back-up of a device is normaly done by booting the device with a rom manager.
But which rom manager could I youse for my Xtrons unit?

3). Could I install update_4_4_4_FUSE_800X480_RK3188_15_MAL_23_04_2016.rar on this unit?
After expanding the rar file I have red the readme file but I'm not sure which method is the best method to choose:
* Installing from the system
* Installing from Recovery

4). Are there any other steps that I have to make or have to know or do before I'm going to flash my unit?

Please help me so I could use the incredible Malaysk rom.
