Hello everyone,

I'm a new user of XZ1 (SOV36) AU unlocked with JP rom 47.2.c.1.126

My wifi keeps getting disconnected randomly. Tried 2 different wifi connections and it is the same

I know it was a sony known bug. Is it not resolved on this rom? Is there any other Rom I can try without this bug? I noticed others are flashing global roms however they said the phone is not going to deep sleep and the battery life is shortened.

Please let know if you are aware of some tricks to reolved this.

PS: I enabled wifi verbose logging in Developer options and turned off mobile data always on.

Thanks guys!

bootloader unlock not possible so i can't disable NFC when I flash global rom. i guess I have no choice but to live with Japan rom :(
I just got this phone today. AFAIK you have few options for debloating.
1. Use temporary root method
2. Flash AU rom by replacing the OEM file from a global rom (UK variants). This debloats it by not installing AU bloats.

thanks for your response. my only problem is wifi keeps getting disconnected randomly and it is the reason why i wish to change to global rom. bloatware i can live with them. disabled and uninstalled other bloat without root

am I the only one who has wifi issues :( do you have the same version of rom as I have? 47.2.c.1.126

have same rom. no wifi issues. probably you need to change the wifi channel? are you using 2.4G or 5G wifi or does it happen in both. It doesn reconnect automatically after disconnect? maybe its related to the Acces Point wifi strength also

I'm near the router.

this is 5Ghz wifi. I'm trying to check with 2.4ghz, just can't update the one I am using now.

It reconnects automatically after disconnect, takes a couple of minutes. sometimes i need to manually connect in settings.

I'll observe it and will try with 2.4ghz

I think I have the same problem too. Disconnect too often and then the 5G Wifi disappeared for a while, while my other devices can still see 5G
But for me, it usally happens if you just rebooted your phone or if you go from home, connect to other wifi and go back home.
I tried reflashing and resetting my router and tweaking the settings correctly but nothing helped much. It's only my XZ1 that happens. 2G works perfectly but it's slow.
My firmware is 47.2.A.11.228

What is the original model of your XZ1? Mine is SOV36 originally and have been flashed with G8341 by the seller, with the bootloader which can't be unlocked. It has random reboot issue which has been fixed by uninstalling nfc modules, and debloated. I'm not having any issue with 5G or 2.4G wifi.

I only have problem with wifi on my Android Box which was fixed by changing the wifi channel on my router. The NFC module could be the reason interfering with the wifi signal or any of the inner parts. You can try disabling/uninstalling the nfc module from your phone and try again to see if the problem persists.

I uninstalled the nfc module from the ADB shell. Or you can just disable them also from ADB shell. Its not possible to disable it from the settings.

Oh SOV36 is a japanese carrier model. Yeah carrier phone are normally not unlockable
Mine is G8341, normal phone and unlockable. Rooted with Magisk and debloated by disabling apps. Didn't want to uninstall completely to avoid bricking
Did another tweaking of router settings. I don't use NFC so i disabled it on settings and frozen them via Titanium backup and reboot. Seems working so far, no disconnect. Hope it works longer

SOV36 is unlockable, someone has already did it, but it involves paying a sum. I would like to know how he did it. And there is also someone who installed TWRP with root and LOS on a bootlocked phone. I don't know how he actually did it but I have an idea.
Also when you disabled nfc from settings, its not totally disabled. You can see that there are some nfc modules still running in the background and they need to be disabled completely using adb command for unrooted phones.

Alright :)
installing TWRP on a locked bootloader is possible since but would need rooted phone. We did it back then on Z3 compact
Downgrade to the lowest firmware with exploits, root, install TWRP and flash latest firmware via TWRP

cool. let me try your suggestions above and I'll let you know. maybe the nfc because it is the only difference to global version.
maybe my phone has some issues too. i have another japan phone xz2 from docomo and wifi works well. both jpn firmware and global flashed fimware.

I would like to try this on my bootlocked SOV36. One thing I noted is from J4nn, he mentioned about setting OEM and another partition (can't recall) as read only or else it will trigger an error, I wonder which TWRP version has this set or must it be set/compiled manually. I would like to use any other custom roms just to test them especially android 10/11, although current global pie version has no problem only NFC is disabled which I don't use.

Found out that the bootloader can be unlocked by qunlock and need credit for unlocking, but if a custom firmware can be flashed without unlocking the bootloader then it is not needed.

I think japanese NFC uses felica and osaifu keitai for NFC modules, I have these modules also on a S7 Edge Docomo version. There's no problem if you use japanese ROMs, problem will only be on firmwares with incompatible/modified NFC modules.

I'll be fine with Global rom as long as there's no battery drain. Right now, I'm still using the latest AU firmware. It is fine, I just disabled some apps and uninstalled those that can be installed. Using Google Phone and Messages app makes it like a Global firmware.

The wifi is slow and disconnects randomly again after reboot, even I fully disabled NFC. Wifi 2G/5G still fast on other devices no problem
I know this thread is about SOV36, but i'm not sure if it has a difference with normal phone with nordic firmware
I think i'm gonna buy another phone now
