I have no idea why it didn't happen in oreo. Maybe they are careless, maybe they don't even care about changes that Pie brought to adapt to the SD Card. It's still a cheap phone so don't expect that everything software wise to be top notch. Like I said, while the device is fully capable of doing that, maybe they are cutting some corners. Thanks for the explanation of why it happens in Pie.
What remains as a mistery to me is why this didn't happen in Oreo. It never happened. Same sd card (OS and capacity), same phone hardware.
I should say that the OS update notification in January didn't state clearly an OS update to Android 9 (pie). Never crossed my mind that an OS upgrade would mess with something that was stable on the previous OS. Naive me :-S
If this a power management issue, is there a way to disable the power saving for the sd card handling?
Thanks again.
Maybe the license for the SD Card support couldn't be moved from 8 to 9 and they had to skip that. I don't know, and only Xiaomi can answer that question, and they never will answer to you or me.
You were never careless to update. Pie brought many upgrades over 8. Like I said, to avoid any problems, just use the SD Card for media storage, and buy the largest known brand Class4 one and your problems will be gone. Or maybe, Android 10 will offer a better support directly from Google without needing licensing for OEMs from other 3rd party companies.
Also, no, there is no way to disable the power management for the SD cards since that power management shoud be managed by the kernel depending on what class card you have. The phone should detect the card type, and tell the kernel what card it is for it to know how to manage. Or maybe the problem comes from the CPU management. I have no idea, and only tried removing the battery saver optimizations from system which brought 0 improvement over previous state.
Have a good day, you're welcome.
