I usually like to updates my apps manually. I disable automatic download in the Play Store settings, but eventualy about after one month the Play Store reset itself (kinda) and I see that some apps that I`d like to keep at certain version are updated to the latest version. I even tried to leave the auto update, but disabled auto update for just some apps and still the same issue persist.

Would try the forum for phone or ROM.
If you have disabled auto update because of play store has updated it self I can't think what else to do.
A little OT. But if you are rooted, then you can detach your selected apps from the playstore. One way is to use TeMeFI. Another is to use newer magisk features and also there is an exposed Module.

Hi, I'd like a link to download Helium backup free version. I can find the paid version on google play but it's of no use because that's just an unlocker, you still need the free app for it to work.

So you want to make a request for an application?[/size]
The first step is to go through XDA forums checking if the app is uploaded the dev himself here or not and then using the search inside the thread to search for the required app
If you do not find make your request in accordance with the following data (not necessarily needed, but it is the best way to receive your application as soon as possible):
1. The link of the application in Google Play website;
So, you are a new member on XDA.! We are fully aware of the fact that u cant post link because of limitation imposed(Just so u know, its to prevent spam from new users,and, i do recommend reading XDA rules first),but,u can post link in plain text, by either removing initial play.google.com or by adding spaces, this is to ensure that we provide u the apk u require, not a same looking/same name app ..
2. The version of the application.[This is not really required, but its better to post,so that we know that we get the latest version for u.!]

UPDATE (2015-09-12): an older version of QuickPic has been found (v3.4.9.1) which is before all the cloud integration (and server callbacks) were implemented. In fact, it does not request any Internet permissions at all. If this interests you, see the bottom of this post for the original Play Store APK and also the re-signed (neutered) APK. Credits to /u/var_without_a_clause on Reddit. An analysis of it (click on the "File detail" tab) shows that it does not have any server calls as found in v4.5.2 (e.g. http://ver.q-supreme.com/update, http://alog.umeng.co/app_logs, and http://alog.umeng.com/app_logs)
Summary:
v4.5.2 = pre-acquisition version that came with cloud integration and unfortunately some server calls. To block Internet access, use AppOps, Privacy Guard, AFWall+ and/or XPrivacy.
v3.4.9.1 = older version without any cloud integration/Internet permissions/server calls (may contain some bugs due to its age, but I haven't encountered any). In fact, I think this version is more responsive than v4.5.2.
Here you go, this is a re-signed copy (v4.5.2, which is pre-acquisition) so it will never ask to update:
