Because Sony has always been a domestic brand (like many Japanese companies) but also with a large European arm for the majority of their products. Anything successful in both these markets will eventually find its way further afield.

Given their current financial state, you can hardly blame them for not wanting to take risks.

And let's not forget the US market for the average consumer is totally inaccessible with only one SKU per colour.

Any news on the possible software updates from sony? Crossing my fingers they fix some issues with the camera...
