Hello @Nut, I'm using Xperia Z with android 5.1.1(228) stock without root. You can't install using kingroot. You need to replace kingroot with SuperSU for the installer to work properly.
Downgrade system and kernel to 5.0, install recovery, flash prfcreator package to update to 5.1.1 again. Done.Hello @Nut, I'm using Xperia Z with android 5.1.1(228) stock without root.
Can you please give me the procedure to root and install your recovery?
-Xperia z (c6603)
-Lollipop (5.1.1)
-Build Id (10.7.A.0.228) *latest release
-Unlocked Bootloader (s1)
-Non-rooted
Well, yes...Hello @Nut
Loving Dual Recovery but have one minor quirk, if I want to drop into either recovery mode I have to remove my SD Card otherwise I just get a red led and phone boots as normal. There is a XZDualRecovery on the external card with a 'donotrun' and logs in. Am I missing something obvious about leaving an SD Card in while trying to boot recovery?

That would explain it, getting slow and stupid in my old age it seemsWell, yes...
Remove the donotrun file and it will work again![]()
I am very new to SONY (current device is xperia z C6603). Therefore i apologize for my nooby questions.
1: it should.I am very new to SONY (current device is xperia z C6603). Therefore i apologize for my nooby questions.
1. Does the latest v2.8.23 work for all android version 4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.4 and 5.x or please tell the working .....?
2. for my device, relevant file is XZ or any other?
3. How to format all partitions in recovery?
thanks
Thanks very much for help. Please clarify my confusion1: it should.
2: nope, that's it.
3: you won't need to do that to all partitions. If you are running the device with locked bootloader, I strongly advise against formatting system as you won't be able to get back in to recovery after doing that and failing to flash a rom...
2: you misunderstood my answer, the XZ package is the one you want. Thanks very much for help. Please clarify my confusion
2. Then please tell which model/build of recovery for model C6603?
3. I used twrp on LG devices. It was hard recovery (do not erase with flashing roms and wiping/formatting system partition as well as other partitions). No experience in SONY. I want to do that because my device does not working properly. It reboots after few minutes. And if we are formatting through recovery, then how could we not been able to flash rom, as we are already in recovery.
Thanks very much for your help! Introduction article was really helpful.2: you misunderstood my answer, the XZ package is the one you want.
3: yes. If recovery would be stored on a partition and would be using its own kernel/boot image it will work like that LG. The thing is that sony devices don't have a recovery partition. That's why recovery is stored on system. I have had people formatting system and then performing a reboot because they where used to do that on other brand models.... It was a warning to prevent that from happening
Read the introduction article on my website, it will teach you just about all you need to know about Sony devices.
If you are experiencing issues, doing a factory reset straight from the ROM's own features won't erase system but will provide you with a clean device to see if these reboots remain or are gone after that. If not, send it to sony for repair, make sure you tell them you tried a factory reset when you do. An alternative way is to use pc companion to flash/repair the device to see if that helps.
Make sure you create a backup of anything you want to keep on the device, including internal storage, because these processes wipe it ALL.
