Hello , I am very new to rooting an so , is there yet any way to root and install recovery on z1c with lollipop running please ? I maen apart of pre rooted tft‘s

Thanks
As far as I am aware, there is no current root exploit directly for lollipop. Flashable pre-rooted ftf is the only option I'm aware of I'm afraid :(

Hi all! I picked up the z1c just a few weeks ago I really like the device, but I want root. It is running 14.5.a.0.242 / 5.0.2 I have been searching web and XDA about anything and everything I should know before I start this... Nexus was so damn easy. As far as I can understand, as of right now the only way to root is to get a program called flash tools and then flash a firmware that is s pre-rooted. Now what I have been a little lost with is the unlocking of the bootloader, and what that does or does not do to the Sony stock firmware/ stock phone functions. What does unlocking the bootloader on a Sony z device do? What do you lose that Sony put there? Is it something that I can get back when a I get rid of bloatware and install xposed? Is there a thread that talks about all the in's and out's that someone new to Sony devices and costomizing them can read? Sorry for the wall of text and thank you for any help in this matter.

Not able to flash stock firmware using Flashtool

Hi,

I want the Lollipop update now, because in Belgium it will last at least for a couple of months before we get it.
What have I done?
1. Unlock my bootloader using Flashtool => Succes
2. Download stock firmware 14.5.x.xxx (UK although I'm in Belgium, people there said it works) with Xperifirm (converted to ftf) => succes
3. Flash Firmware with Flashtool => Fail

After "INFO - Processing of amss_fsg.sin finished", I get "INFO - Ending flash session", next "-ERROR-" and "-ERROR- error flashing. Aborted"

What have I tried to fix (because phone keeps restarting now).
- Downloaded the original firmware (14.4) from belgium through Xperifirm, result => identical as when I try with UK firmware.
- Restore using Emma => Succes, but no Lollipop + lost al my data.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm not looking for a fancy modded ROM, only the stock Lollipop ROM (but if possible rooted)

Hi, what i suggest would be:
1. Flash stock .108 ROM for your country or even any other country which is not provider orientated (Customized_XXX) will do
2. Root your device with easy root tool (use google to search) install recovery, supersu
3. Flash any of Prerooted stock ROMs via recovery (i have made one HERE

Hi guys,
Getting one of these second hand in a few days.its currently running firmware 14.5.A.0.270 i believe.
I've been going through the threads/posts on how to get root access and the best i could come up with was the following

If Bootloader is locked (can i downgrade without unlocking?)
1.Downgrade to [STOCK ROM][FTF]Xperia Z1c D5503_14.4.A.0.108_Central Europe unbranded (1280-7864)) using Flashtool
2.Root using Easy Root Tool
3.Install [DEVDB][TWRP][PhilZ Touch][CWM] XZDualRecovery 2.7.1XX RC
4.Use [TOOL][LB][ROOT] Backup TA v9.11 for Windows to Back up TA
5.Use the method from this link to unlock bootloader - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440597 [Tutorial] Xperia Z1 Bootloader Unlocking/Relocking
5.Use [TOOL] XperiFirm and download 14.5.A.0.270 again.
6.use [TOOL] PRFCreator - and create a pre rooted zip file or use a pre rooted file like http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/general/ftf-14-5-0-270-generic-india-t3117026
7.Flash from custom recovery?

Am i missing any steps? Please let me know if there are essential steps missing?
Also once bootloader is unlocked, can i just flash any pre rooted firmware from recovery or does it have to be flashed with Flashtool?

Thanks guys

There is no need unlock bootloader to root the phone. Simply do as follows:
  1. Downgrade to KitKat version 14.4.A.0.108. Yes, You can downgrade with locked bootloader.
  2. Root using Easy root tool.
  3. Install XZDualRecovery for locked bootloader.
  4. Flash a PRF(Pre-Rooted Firmware) of Lollipop version 14.5.A.0.270 via Recovery! Although You need to wipe system, data and cache for it.
No need to unlock bootloader!
Pre-Rooted Firmware is a flashable zip, and it can only be flashed via recovery, never via flashtool.

Can somebody tell me what is actually gone after unlocking the bootloader without backing up TA Partition? does an unlocked bootloader (on stock room) make any problems in daily use?
OTA updates are impossible then, right?

From what I understand, you can get ota updates by relocking, (flashtool), but you can never get DRM keys back. The only daily use problem I've read about is that you lose some camera imaging ability, (not sure exactly what).

Hi guys,

I am currently running 14.4.A.0.157, rooted and locked bootloader - stock ROM.

I am happy with the phone this way and the rooting process was fast.

I got the 14.5.A.0.242 update to Lollipop and I was wondering what would be the procedure to update it and keep root?
> do I need to unlock bootloader?

Thanks
