Hello, today I tried to install this dual recovery on my XPERIA Z1 with no success :( at the end it says: "Installation finished. Enjoy the recoveries!" but nothing happens device remains unchanged in any way. After restart i could not get into recovery by mashing both volume buttons, green light didn't light up and it booted to the system. Is it yet not supported on 5.1.1 or am I doing something wrong??

But to install xzdr your phone has to be rooted otherwise you won't be able to write to the system partition and xzdr can't be installed.

I now successfully repacked the kernel from cm-12.1-20151011-NIGHTLY-honami boot.img for C6903 and I can get into the dual recovery.

But, when trying to get into the OS, I see "Android starting" "starting apps" and this takes ages now, it has not finished yet. It seems the boot process hangs. Before installing XZDR booting into
cm-12.1-20151011 worked properly.

After waiting countless minutes, the device gets stuck. As I said, installing XZDR with repacked kernel worked, dual recovery works. But, XZDR now gives me a stucked device... BL surely is unlocked.

Thanks for any advise!

Did you also flash the zip or only the boot.img?

If you flashed the zip, enter recovery and remove /system/app/NDRutils and try to boot again.

I tried both, boot.img and zip, both make the device hang. This is now what I did, I installed CM12.1 boot.img, booted, manually wiped the Dalvik/ART cache folder and shut down.

Then I installed XZDR from boot.img I created from CM12.1 nightly. Installed finde, XZDR is available.

But, the device still hangs at "Android is starting".

Thus, wiping the cache and removing NDSUtils did not help.

Well, at least I now know how to install XZDR for rescue purposes, for every day use I need the CM12.1 recovery to get the OS booting.

Thanx

Doesn't the installer version come with a rootkit to root the device? BTW, where do you get 2.8.22, on NUT's page I only see 2.8.21 thanks. ==> oh, it´s a beta version it seems

Yes. But I think to new Android security the exploit doesn't work anymore on newer android versions. For 5.0.2 I had to first root the device to get the Recovery installed.

If you are rooted than download the windows installer and install the Recovery again. If you aren't rooted than you are out of luck.

Sorry guys, i tried for many hours and hopefully somebody can help.
short story: I have an Sony Z1 5.0.2 Lollipop. Downgraded with Flashtool to 4.4.4. Tried to run the locked dual recovery installer and it automatically opens up cmd with 5 options. I chose #3 installation on unrooted rom and using towelroot. did not work. It says waiting for device connect usb cable now...
I restarted PC, checked if unknown sources and debugging is activated. Still get the same message. Installed all drivers with Flashtool.
how can i solve this i need a recovery. thanks

I just found the Rashr Flash Tool in Play Store that allows to flash a recovery from within a running system. This way I finally was able to install a new recovery, PhilZ touch and my device does not hang any more. Moreover, PhilZ Touch was written to the FOTA partition and thus it will survive CM12.1 nightly updates :)

Is there a way to install your XZDR dual recovery to the FOTAkernel partition instead of boot partition?

Yes just download the recover in rasher and install xzdr is the first option.
