All of those modules cause bootloops. FYI when the modules were working, the lineage camera wasn't replaced by stock sony camera. The sony camera was installed as separate app, so the module wasn't working as expected even back then.

I see, no problem then, thanks for your quick testing and feedback!

...users on Lineage16 on z3c firstly, I've made 3 test camera packages for ya to test,
cheers!
Oh wow, big thanks, I kinda have a busy schedule but I downloaded the files and should have enough free time on Thursdayand actually have enough free time right now. I use encryption so backing up and restoring my current setup takes helluvalot of time.
Actually the idea of not using the stock camera is very sensible... sometimes i'll take pictures and they wouldn't appear in the album like ever. And picture quality between apps doesn't seem any different. I'll see if the module works on other ROMs as well.

I've tried test modules on LineageOS 17 and 16. I don't see any difference in functionality between the version in post #1 and these test ones.
Test #0 worked great on LOS17 actually, it takes pictures & videos, the viewfinder speed has improved from clean LOS as expected. Not sure why, but with the original (2.8, in post #1) version the viewfinder kept stuttering as it is in stock lineageos 17. Other test modules (#1 and #2) cause Snap camera to crash.
Also because of the way location permissions work now in Android 10, Sony's camera app won't work, asking for location permissions. Generally I think it would be cool to have a module that brings Cyberian Camera features and picture quality without Sony's camera app.
All test modules cause bootloop on LOS16. I've tried switching between using OpenGApps and MindTheGApps and trying without GApps to no avail. Sometimes I can't even get camera feed or take pictures on clean LOS16 and I still can't figure out why.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@fablerbjörn @pawloland @Barium and other users that had bootloop problems on LineageOS, my bet is that its completely fixed by now! :D Hope to hear your feedback soon!

Before anyone ask, unfortunately, original camera app is currently not working on 10, only on 9 and 8.1! Also, Sony Album is not working on 10, waiting for the next release that might be fully compatible with it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the ones wanting to know why LineageOS suddenly started to bootloop right after it went official (SELinux went to Enforcing),here is more information. In short, some apps needs to be pushed to priv-app folder to work correctly, and since android 9, the OEM needs to give each app permission "to be" on priv-app, which was not be done till now.

Also, Magisk Module Template was update, also, all Magisk Modules don't replace system apps anymore, feel free to disable the ones you don't use!

Main page will be updated asap!

Cheers!

Problem on lineage 17.1

Hi,

I've installed the magisk camera module on my Z3c running lineage 17.1 and the camera app keep asking for storage permission at startup (even after toggling the permission in parameters menu)...

I don't know if it's an issue from lineage or if it's the module that doesn't work well on Android 10...

It seems to be fixed with latest lineage 17.1 release (20200209) :D:cool: !

How have you fixed it? I am on official LOS 17.1 on z3c and still face the same issue. Camera asks for storage permission even thought it already has it. Strange thing is that when I go to the settings, there are two identical entries called 'storage', both are granted. Is it possible to fix it @mxperial ? I hope you will figure it out :fingers-crossed:

Edit 1: Nevermind, after couple of reboots and updating to the latest version of official LOS it somehow works now.

Hi,

I've installed the magisk camera module on my Z3c running lineage 17.1 and the camera app keep asking for storage permission at startup (even after toggling the permission in parameters menu)...

I don't know if it's an issue from lineage or if it's the module that doesn't work well on Android 10...

The same happened to me with CarbonROM 8.0 (Z3c) and AICP 10 with Z1c.
Always asking for storage permission even when they were granted.
Update:
I reinstalled. Wiped Data and System. Installed AICP on Z1c, installed Magisk, installed MicroG.
After reboot I installed the Camera Module after another reboot I installed the Sony System stuff, lite version.
At first I got the error that I need to grant permissions which did not go away after I got permissions.
So I restarted and installed a newer version of AICP.
The error message is gone. Instead a new error message is there which says the camera is busy.
Do you need Google Apps to run it?
Update: No, the same problem persists with Google Apps.

Finally success with the Z3c. The order of flashing stuff was crucial:
1. Wiped System, Data, Cache
2. Installed Lineage OS from September
3. Installed Open Gapps
4. Installed Magist 20.4
Rebooted
5. Installed the sony system module
Rebooted
6. Installed the Camera Module for Z3c
Rebooted
7. Started the camera, got error message, granted all permissions
Booted to Recovery (Lineage recovery)
8. Updated LineageOS October update
Rebooted
Camera is working!!!

Tried the same with my Z1c:
No success. Error message that the camera would be busy.

Hey guys, I would like to introduce the packages I've create for the CarbonROM (might work on other roms) using Magisk systemless module to get the Sony look and apps back again on Oreo, Pie and 10.
Also, I've prepared a comprehensive guide on flashing a CustomROM on z3c but it should help with the install process on other phones as well.

    Code:
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this MOD
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    * If you don't like this MOD, Stay away from this thread!

    DISCLAIMER:
    - Use it at your own risk
    - Feel free to ask any questions
    - All credit goes to the devs of each project, I just put everything together in a pack that is more helpful for new and old users in my view. Feel free to contact me anyway.

    - TimeShift Video: video records works but only saves the video file on reboot.
    - Video recording on 4K resolution not working, use OpenCamera instead for that by now.
    - Support icon on setting is buggy on CR6.1
    - Camera seems to be recording videos with 60fps instead 120fps
    - HDR and Manual Exposure doesn't seems to work
    - 20mp 16:9 labeled wrongly, it is actually 15.5mp 16:9
    - Album recognize photos on SD card, but deleting them does not work.

I've thought on providing a user friendly clean install tutorial here (assuming that you coming from stock):

    1. Get the last CarbonROM, the last Gapps (OpenGapps ARM or MindTheGapps ARM), the last stable or beta Magisk (Installer, Uninstaller and Manager) and the last TWRP.
    2. If your device is D5833 get .575 and .291 roms (however you just need the kernels), if it is D5803 skip this step.
    3. Follow this tutorial to root your phone.
    4. Backup your DRM keys if you want (I personally like to backup them)
    5. Now unlock your Bootloader using Flashtool (get the unlock code from here if you don't have it)
    6. After get your bootloader unlocked flash again .291 rom
    7. Get Minimal ADB and Fastboot
    8. Copy the TWRP that you download to the Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)
    9. Run Minimal ADB and Fastboot as admin
    10. Connect your phone in fastboot mode (press volume up and connect the usb cable)
    11. In Minimal ADB and Fastboot type fastboot flash FOTAKernel <"twrp_name">.img and hit enter
    12. If everything were OK type exit and hit enter
    13. Now press volume down and the power button at the same time to boot in the recovery, when the phone vibrates release the power button, when the light came out release the volume down button. thanks @casouzaj for this post.
    14. Click on Wipe, Advanced and select and clear Everything (Dalvik/ART Cache, system, cache, Data, Internal Storage)
    15. Go back and click on Install, find and install CarbonROM
    16. Go back and click on Install, find and install Gapps
    17. Go back and click on Install, find and install Magisk
    18. Go back and click on Install, find and install Image Enchament and Smart Technologies (Optional - I installed but not sure if it is doing anything)
    19. Go back and click on Install, find and install Oreo-XZ2-DisplayMod-for-XZ-XZs-XP (Optional - I installed but not sure if it is doing anything)
    20. Reboot to system
    21. Upgrade Magisk Manager (Swipe up on the main screen, find and open Files app, click on the on top left, select SD card, find Magisk Manager apk)
    22. Open Magisk Manager and install SONY XPERIA XZ2 SOUND SYSTEM™ by @sirdoha (v1.35 Magisk recommended) (not necessarily anymore)
(Quick guide: Open Magisk Manager, click on the on top left, click on Modules, click on the "+" button on the center of the screen, give its permissions, search for the file and click on it).
    23. Remember, after install any Magisk module, reboot your system, otherwise it will not get installed properly. (At least I've tried to flash many modules at once and it didn't work)
    24. Install the right Sony Stock Camera Magisk Module on your device (Camera button acts just like in Sony Stock ROMs).
    25. Install the right Xperia System Pack Magisk Module.
    26. Install Xperia Camera Add-on Package Magisk Module.
    27. If you want to boost your torch get the Magisk Module from here
    28. Reboot. Done!
*If you reboot your system and didn't see the modules, just reboot your phone one more time. All done!

Congrats, welcome to the CustomROMs world. Now you need to set somethings up: 3rd Post
