Yes shims are required to get stock binaries working on N / custom ROMs.@munjeni @SpiritCroc @maz-1 - I just read interesting article on xda about blobs and shims. Am I right to think that shims is how you got the camera working on N? If so, would it be possible to use same shims to build AOSP with a good camera?
Getting it to work on AOSP sounds like a big amount of work
Looking at the screenshot of about device, seems to me like sudamod has 3.4 kernel as wellSudamod has comparable camera with 3.1 kernel, but AOSP rooms all have unusable camera because of Sony blobs, (I think)... I would like to figure out a way to get AOSP with usable camera. I've tried using boot img from 3 other roms and it won't boot... I've also tried kernel port technique I found on xda, but no go. I guess I might just have to bite the bullet and get into rom building.
