Hello boys and girls!

Do you think Z3 can't keep up with the brightness other phones have when we use torch?
I made a MOD using this post.

Interesting,

Torch in Z3 sucks hard, I'm pretty sure they tuned it down to prevent damage. Anyone tested it for a longer period? :)

Led is really hot after less than minute.
OP, how to change brightness, let's say to 30% less than now?

Just navigate to the file's directory using a root explorer, open the original file, edit the LED Torch value anywhere from 1000000 to 1250000, save and reboot. That is the range that offers brightness levels closer to most other phones without making the device over-heat.

This is the line you want to modify in file system/etc/flashled_calc_parameters

#LED If setting for Torch or video recording (uA).
if_torch_vr = 25000 (#could be any value, changed to 500000 in this mod)

Stock value is 25000. Very low. I think 500000 (this mod) is overkill. I used 100000. Before changing, my torch was much dimmer than an iphone6. Now, at 100000 it is slightly brighter. I'm happy with the result. Thanks to OP to bringing this up or I would have never though to mess around with my torch.

In CPU-Z Thermal section you will find pm8941_tz and emmc_therm. These are the closest thermal sensor to the led. I have some SMT leds at home. Overheat can pop off the silicone top of the led or even melt the solder paste under it. I've set mine to 400000. I think its safe to use the torch with this amperage for 10-15 minutes, but I've seen an iPhone with yellow torch because it was left on while in pocket. :) SMT leds can turn to blue too if something goes wrong, so I always watch the colour, when using it :)
