Sorry it took so long but my initial impressions and submersion tests are done. An x201 dies in the process.
Even with it lacking 3G and SD expandability, I find it to be a far better and more finished device the TrueSmart or it's clones. It's not perfect but for $50 more it is a noticeable step up.

I received the z8 today. Looks and feels good but the screen is way to responsive. But I can live with that. A bigger problem is what the "invalid imei" message. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this issue? 
Was talking about the inwatch. No echo during calls, is better built, more secure, camera is much better. Only down sides are still not a true IPx7 device and no 3G or SD. The best comparison is think Galaxy Gear but with 2G, 5MP cam and wifi in a metal case.

I use the mtk droid tool to restore it
and dont forget to make a backup in case you lose the imei again

I dont know, because when I installed the rom, it installed succesfully on the first try.
just follow the instructions carefully.

Do you have the same problem as I have, after a full charge of the battery, I see the on the watch 100% for 2 days which then drops to 90% to 80% and then the watch turns off!!!
What should I do to solve this would be normal?

Just received the Z8 smartwatch in red color. I've got same error in notification bar: INVALID IMEI
I guess I have to open back cover with the screwdriver to get imei number cause *#06# code also says invalid.
Once I got it if I follow your link when says
Now enter the command
AT+EGMR=1,7,THE-FIRST-IMEI-NUMBER
after -FIRST- Have I to put my imei number?
Sorry for the dumb question but I'm not used to rooting.

The imei is needed to use the simcard and you put the imei on the z8 using the mtkdroidtool

Where is supposed to be IMEI number?
I see some numbers on the battery but they are about the battery capacity. Should I remove red plastic spacer?
Orange connector doesn't let me to remove completely the plastic spacer but just opening a gap in one side I don't see any number below the spacer.
How did you get the Imei?
