Is there a way to trigger EDL mode without short circuiting A/B?

I'm in fastboot bootloop; it has the Start, Reboot to Recovery, Restart Bootloader, and Power Off options, but only Power Off seems to do anything (it turns off the phone). Everything else just reboots into fastboot. Using the './fastboot devices' command indicates my computer recognizes that my ZF9 is in fastboot.

All I did to get here was './adb reboot fastboot' to get into fastbootd, which succeeded. I then attempted to run some fastboot commands that failed, then attempted to reboot to bootloader which is where it currently continually stays.

The other option was to get and EDL cable.

I ordered it but got impatient so went for the shorting option.

I found it suprisingly easy. Used a hairdryer to soften the glue for the back case which came off without issue.

As to the exact process of shorting, was some trial and error but took max 5 mins.

Thanks! I placed my order and will likely wait until it arrives.

I just got the EDL cable and it doesn't appear to be working. I tried it on a Zenfone 8 which isn't bricked with no success. Still in 900E mode with no sign of getting it into 9008 mode.

If you can get to fastboot, then that's fantastic.

I successfully recovered from a boot loop last night.

You need to enter the bootloader by pressing volume up then the power key until you see asus logo

Cycle to recovery mode

Select Enter fastboot

download (2).png

Note the fastbootd - thats what you need to be on

download (3).png

This us how it should look in device manager

If you dont have the correct driver or there is an exclamation mark you need drivers here

You can see if your device is successfully recognised with the command 'fastboot devices'

If you need platform tools get it here

Then proceed to:

STEP 2: Download Asus Zenfone 9 Firmware

Hope that helps, sorry about the crap image quality.

Hate to revive this old thread, but I managed to brick my zenfone 9. Was able to reflash with the romdeveloper files, but it seemed to blow away my imeis and serial. Phone also won't connect to the mobile network. Any idea what to do here? Do i need to send the phone back to ASUS?

hey, thanks for replying. Sure,

Basically i tried to run the tools in this post, and I kept getting errors when it was trying to download the files..

I ended up following what others in this thread had done and downloaded the unbrick files from romdevelopers.com and it looks like those were also flashed using QFIL, except this time it actually worked, the only issue being that it flashes and engineering sample and changed the devices serial to: 11111111111 (not the exact amount of 1's), same goes for both IMEI numbers.

I am able to sideload the stock firmware, but mobile network doesn't work, I'd assume it has something to do with the IMEI numbers?

I was a bit of a derp and didn't backup the qcn. If possible maybe someone could back up the qcn and send it so i can place my IMEI's in the config? With all 1's the tools are failing to find the place to replace the IMEIs in the configs.

Also not even sure that will fix my issues.

    Download: Link 🔗

    Steps:
    1. Only works on EDL mode.
    2. Run script 0-8475_update_image_EDL_fh_loader.bat
    3. Update Official OTA package in recovery or install UserRAW in bootloader

Thanks ASUS Taiwan, @EdwardWu6688 , and don't use it for commercial purposes or earn money from this.

Im a newbie and I bricked my device

    Does this support

    Versión WW-32.2030.2030.26
    ?????
After you install this unbrick fw, you will get back to 32.2004.2004.84 bootloader, so you most need install 32.2004.2004.84 user raw or adb sideload 32.2004.2004.84 fully OTA package.
