I've been shopping around for a 10" Android Tablet to play around with. Didn't want to spend much, because quite frankly, I've got too many gadgets as it is. Decided on the ZT-180, mainly because I could get it quite cheap. Here's the specs on the one I bought...

Processor: High-performance 1 GHZ CPU
OS: Google Android 2.2
Memory RAM: 512MB
Flash Memory: 4GB (3GB available to user) (Expandable by Micro SD card up to 32GB)
WiFi: 802.11 b / g

Got it for 150. Looking forward to dredging through this thread to find good info, lol. Any particular posts I should pay attention too? Also, anything I should pay particular attention too or anything in particular I should do when I receive it?
Seems you bought a ZT-180 v2/+ tablet, this thread was originally and is mainly for the original ZT-180 (256MB RAM/2GB Nand), so don't think much info here may help you.

You can check out the SlateDroid ZT-180 v2/+ sub forum - http://www.slatedroid.com/forum/189-zt-180-v2/

real bluetooth

I'm not so sure about that. My Linux PC seems to see it the same way

According to THIS, Android uses the Linux BlueZ stack for bluetooth. On the ZT-180 in the /system/lib/bluez-plugin folder, I find this:

audio.so
input.so

What I think is missing are the device drivers. Here is more info on Bluetooth in Android:

http://sites.google.com/a/android.com/opensource/projects/bluetooth-faq

Hi,
someone have managed to make bluetooth run on this device?
I'm looking for a solution for my obd2 bluetooth dongle and gps dongle to work with my zt-180.

Anyone?
many thanks in advance..

Seems you have the 0803 ROM from last year on your tablet, which was made for the original 10" ZT-180 (Ruby/B0 board).....

So anything for the 256MB RAM/2GB nand tablet on the Zenithink web site or anything B0 & nand on the FTP should work for your tablet......

Hi again

Thank you for your help...

What does it mean B0 & nand??? And on what FTP?

The rom I have is pretty week and extremely slow... even for to unlock the device it takes extremely long...

I hope one of the newer roms work faster... Is there a rom like the Uberoid WM8650... this one works perfect on all of my WM8650 devices and it would be great to have something similar for ths device...

I also have a ZT-180 7 inch and its also pretty slow...

It's called Upad and in the settings is writen:

Model
zt180
android_2.2
Kernel 2.632.9
[email protected] (hash)5052
zt180-eng AOSP OPENMASTER eng.root.20110613 test-keys

If y use Advanced task killer I only got about 25-28 MB Memory available after... It's not really much...

What Version could I try and where can I find it...

Thanks a lot again for your great help...

There are several versions of the ZT-180 tablets out with (the same CPU but) different boards inside. The main ones are:
ZT180_B0 10 inch v1 256MB RAM/2GB Nand storage (green pcb)
ZT180_E3 7 inch v2 256MB RAM/2GB or 4GB Inand storage (green pcb)
ZT180_G0 10 inch v2 512MB RAM/2GB or 4GB Inand storage (blue pcb)
ZT180_G1 10 inch v2 256MB RAM/2GB or 4GB Inand storage(cost down)
ZT180_G2 10 inch v2 512MB RAM/2GB or 4GB Inand storage (green pcb)

Zenithink's ZT-180 FTP site is ftp://zenithink.com/dyliao/zt-180
All the beta ROMs are there, but the files are scattered in different folders. You can find the system image in the android folder, the one in the nand folder is for the B0 (Ruby) boards, and the one in the inand folder is for the 7" & 10" v2's (E3, G0, G1, G2) (7" is a Cameo board, 10" v2s are Jade). Ruby, Cameo, and Jade is what's written on the board inside the tablet for identification. Then there are the boot / kernel / update folders that contains the other files you would need. There is also a readme folder for instructions, NK folder for WinCE system image, and then recently they released part of the source code in the source folder, which contains the tools you would need and a txt file of where to download the actual source code files (https://github.com/atpboy444/ZT-180). You should download all the files you would need by the folder name/date, for the B0 boards, the latest is 0603. The code just recently got released, so there aren't many custom ROMs out for the ZT-180 tablets...

Since you have such an old ROM on your 10" Original ZT-180 tablet, you will first need to use the burntool v7.41 to flash a complete ROM (1126 Beta - 0324/0328) to allow for sdcard flashing ability, then you can flash the latest 0603 ROM via the sdcard.

and of course you can check out the ZT-180 Original 10" wiki I've been trying to keep somewhat up-to-date:

The 0613 ROM is the latest on the Zenithink Download page (http://www.zenithink.com/Enews_92.html). There is a updated 0618 kernel and update on the FTP, which only changes the filesystem from ext2 to ext4.

What does the model number on your 7" say? If it has a number lower than the 0613 that is installed on your tablet, your vendor may have updated it without flashing the ZT_E3.spl file which is necessary for ROMs above 0603 to function properly (you can get it in the 0603 folder on the ftp). Many people say their 7" works a lot better after flashing the spl file, but the free RAM issue does slow things down a bit. Many people use a swap file or partition to make more free RAM available and use a Startup Manager to block apps from starting up at boot which is not needed.....

Hope some of that helps.......... :)

Zenithink ZT180 V3 10"

Hello Guys,
Sorry for my bad english.

You are my last hope now!
When I have bourght the Tab he was a fine device. But a few weeks later I install the GO Launcher. Since this time I see that my display turned to 180°. It doesn´t matter for me, because it rotates in the right way. For three weeks I deceided to upgrade Android to the version from 06.13.2011. After that upgrade my display turned to 90° left. So I can not use the automatik rotation anymore. I have done everythink to fix this problem, but nothing works. (downgrade...upgrade...) I think that this is not a realy Android problem, it seems to be a system problem. I am sure that the hardware is OK, because the three sense tell me different values on rotation. My opinion is, that the display lost the information where the bottom is.
What must I do to fix this.

Please note - This is only for the "F" model!!!! FOR NOW!!!!
(Can someone post a download link to a "non-f" model firmware please?)

What will be different with this ROM?
The aim of this ROM is to have everything useless removed and stability increased. I plan on having great performance.

What base are you using?
I am using the 0603 ROM as a base.

Don't expect much to have changed between the stock ROM and V1...
V1.5 and V2 will have greater improvements over the stock ROM.

V1 Released!
Modifications:
- Unneeded apps removed

LOL. Props should still go to the developer for time investing in fanning the flames of this tablet. It's good to still see activity with it. It was my first 'true' Android tablet but I recently snagged an Acer A500 and am so in love with it. swebosdev, thanks for taking the time to build this.

What ROM are you running? Most of the recent ROMs have the mahimahi fingerprint to show all compatible apps. If it's not showing, it may not be compatible with the ZT-180 v2 tablet.
You should use UniversalandRoot 1.6.1 and the "Do not install Superuser" option to root the tablet, then update the superuser apk from the Market and then upate the su binary from settings or preference (can't remember which one) in the superuser app.

    Howto Flash the device:

    Shutdown the Pad.
Then Press The Button on the Right site in front of the pad (there is only one?) and the Power Button at the Same Time.
Then the device will be flashable and the light will be blue i think.
Then you Put the USB-Cable in, install the driver which is also in the package.
    Now you can open burntool.

    Device10 should be green.
Now jo goto Settings, and set uboot, kernel,sys-dat, udat

    uboot: u-boot.img
    linux-kernel:zImage_cui
    linux-sys:system.img
    linux-udat:userdata.img

Press the FIRST button from the left site to confirm the settings

Now press Start and the device should be starting to flash....

However sometimes the board hangs after flashing and will not start directly dont worry. If everything doesnt help, do a reset.

So iam not responsible again, this was the way i used and it worked.
I thinks its impossible to brick the pad, because you can flash it every time again. (throu ENTER+Power button mode).

    **Nevermind*** had the wrong file.

I have a ZT180 I picked up from a local classifieds. As I couldnt remove all the personal crap from the previous owner, I decided to flash it with the instructions on the very first post in this forum.

Everything is working good with the exception that about the last 20 or 30 pixels all the way down the bottom are "stretched" out. its like it doesn't know what the true resolution of the screen is. Any help?

    Thanks

    David
You probably flashed the wrong zImage for your tablet, I always get cofused about which one I should tell people to use, I think you flashed a 600 when you should flash the 576 one (or it could be the other way around, LOL).....

    Hi omarahum

    One question:
I have 1204fw, i see your 2931 post.. i understeand with your mod you have improved the wifi?
How can i make this improve, can you explain what i must to do?
I cant find the ftdi zImage from 1126..
    Can you help me? Please..

Thanks and rellay sorry fom my bad english..
    Ok, thanks ..
I thought I had understood that with this mod wifi worked even better than it does now in 1204fw..
this because i dont feel really fast my browser..and i thinked if there was a solution to make it go better...
    Thanks
I have a Ruby 1.2 576 display ZT-180 Tablet, and the 1204 kernel was causing some strange behavior, like on a cold boot there would just be a blank black screen after the android graphic logo finished loading, and would always have to reboot, and the wifi always seemed to go to "sleep" a lot (while in the same location with excellent signal strength) even though I told it in advanced setting to never turn it off. My solution was going to go back to the 1126 beta, but I didn't feel like flashing everything and setting up the tablet again, so i only place the ftdi.rar zImage into /sdcard/zt-update and flashed on boot, hadn't had any problems since.......
My Zenithink Folder on MediaFire - http://www.mediafire.com/?19kzx4qyx5uqp
you should be able to find it in /zenithink/1126 Beta ROM RAR Files/ftdi.rar, but there are a lot of kernels, spls, and boots to choose from, but I only flashed the Image in the ftdi.rar file. Also for faster upload/download on the tablet you can try to edit the \system\etc\init.gprs-pppd file and change the 115200 to 921600, made my wifi seem faster........

What is getting rooted and is it the same on the zt-180+?
I found a thread how to but it seems very complicated, what happens if you do wrong?
I could not find Root explorer for free on android market, is there no similar for free?
Rooting is just a way to get access to the system files.....
Easiest way to root - http://www.ibeau.net/tech/easy-root-txpower-fix-on-zenithink-zt-180/ (don't know if it works in Froyo or your ZT-180+ though - but rootexplorer can be found here too)
another program is z4root - http://www.mediafire.com/file/awt5m8lutmeb23t/z4root_v1.3.0.apk (again, don't know about froyo or zt-180+)

Hello, this is my first post on this forum. I have had my ZT180 for about a month now, and have got used to using it. It currently has the android 2.1, and I am starting to feel like it is limited, and would like to upgrade (to run 2.2 apps, flash, etc.). I have been viewing all the info on this site, and have been become overwelmed with the amount of information, as well as the versions of os, and upgrading software. I have modded, and updated other devices in the past, so I am not a total newbie at this. I was just wondering if there is a step by step guide I could use to update my pad, as I do not want to have re-update after I possible upgrade to a substandard version of the os. I may be wrong, maybe Version 2.1 as perfectly adaquate, as I do not know any better at this point. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
What ROM are you using now?

    For original ZT-180 (256 MB/2 GB) (not the 512 MB/4 GB):

Personally, I think the most recent Eclair 0117 ROM is more stable and snappier than the Froyo 0120 ROM. Zenithink wasn't going to publish Froyo because of all the bugs they haven't fixed yet, but since people were asking for it they did.

You could probably check out the links in my signature, or just read through the SlateDroid 0120 Thread - http://209.250.2.82/index.php?topic=15250.0 (one of my posts in there that may help - http://209.250.2.82/index.php?topic=15250.msg135193#msg135193).
