Thanks for the aggregated hosts file. It works wonderfully blocking both in-app ads as well as browser ads.

I am using the social media friendly hosts file. I cannot download anything directly from XDA labs app. But I can download the same when accessing from a browser. Is there a way I can fix this?

I can build a new one for now. Maybe it's about XDA app ?

how to know if its work ???

If it's blocking ads that means it's working. Simple as hell.

Just started work on my "terminal script" version of ur mod..

Just like u make the mod on ur PC by psAdblock..
It does it on rooted android phone using busybox and su

Advantage : anywhere anytime updates !!

(u choose when u want to update or even disable adblock without reboot to recovery..)

Disadvantage : Resulting hosts file is a bit larger since it may have #comments

SCREENSHOT IN ATTACHMENT..

Hope u dont mind posting my script in ur thread anytime soon..

Hey guys, a bit frustrated, nothing works for me.
Tried the old method, flashing hosts.zip in TWRP. Flashed successfully -- domains still not blocked.
HTC 10, recently OTA updated to Android 8.0 Oreo.
I have tried everything I can think of with the hosts file, nothing works. /system/etc has no hosts file, and I've also tried placing it in /data/hosts and /data/data/hosts, as well as /system/etc/hosts but when I boot up -- it has no effect.

I am rooted with S-OFF, but also, using a terminal app, "su" doesn't work, and ls /system gives permissions denied. ARGH!
