Zte A2017 - Just updated to B013. Now asked for a password

I have an A2017 from Ali express - I've updated to B013. Now I've its promoting my to enter a password to start android.

What on earrth is this ? I've never before had to enter a password on this device.

What do I do next to get past this ?

HELP PLEASE !!!!!

Hi try this.

Hold Volume up and power button at same time for a few seconds and release immediately when phone starts to reboot. It should go into bootloader mode. If it does not go to bootloader try again (volume up+power button).
Select Power off - which will turn the phone off.
Remove your SIM cards and SD card from your phone.
Restart the phone by holding the power button for few minutes.
Hopefully it will boot to the setup screen.
If it still boots to the Android password screen do not type in anything - just try this method once more.
Let me know if this works as it worked for me.

Success, that worked. You had to hold on the power button for a few minutes like you said. It then came up with a mesage saying erasing. It looks like its facorty reset the device, but it is on the latest B013 build. Therefore providing I can install google play store then I should (hopefully) be rocking.

It it factory re-set for you - if so how did you then install the google play store ?

I'm sorry I can't help with Google Play store. I have model A2017G in Australia and the stock ROM already comes with PlayStore.
I had to factory reset twice (because my Axon 7 was randomly rebooting and freezing) and I encountered the same 'Android Password' problem as you. That is how I found to fix the Android Password problem.
You may just need to search in Google or XDA on how to instal PlayStore for your model.

installed google play from ZTE market - all appears to be well. I'm downloading ther apps like crazy tonight. It makes my think that sellers like Ali express do not need to root phones etc. it causes more crap than enough with no receiving updates, preventing root based apps from working etc.

ok the same as you but i install manually google play......the phone is rest but now i'm in b013 , the night is going to be hard installing all again

All is well. Apps installed. Chinese apps mostly removed. Really now more or less it's a fully usable phone. I was panicking regarding the password check. Will this ever come up again? Do I need to set up a one for the future? If so where and how do I do this? Thank you

Had to hold onto power button for several minutes before a message appeared stating erasing. I didn't realise it was factory resetting itself at that point.
