Can we have the app spoof our phone as Galaxy Note 8 so it can stream HDR in other phones such as the Huawei Mate 10 which supports HDR 10 video?

Note 8 is officially approved as to stream Netflix in HDR.

I guess you can't spoof a certain device model. But you can force Dolby Vision or HDR10. Below is a test version linked.

Updated APK: 2018-02-06 [sha1: 4c0d2950db4e1835be3f46ba50fe7393654cda13]
Test APK with HDR10 enabled [sha1: efc4f5adbf98b884c48ddce588320bc4ea350f43]

Thank you. Will test..

Actually you can spoof a device model. iYTBP app can spoof different handsets to enable HDR YouTube videos. It's in the settings. So maybe you can with Netflix.

You can use the attached bash script. Basically it's just changing the return values of functions.

Note:
- Today's recompiled version (5.13.0) keeps crashing. There are lots of strange files in the 'unknown files' folder. Idk.
- For older versions, DEVICECONFIG needs to be adjusted.

[XDA doesn't like files without extension, so I added ".txt" to the file.]

Netflix 5.13.1 build 25866 / Netflix 5.13.1 build 25866 + HDR10

Version is crashing on my S7 (like all recent versions 5.13.x)

Official Netflix App has a max. resolution off 960x540 on my S7.

Bad news

Try an older version, where the application used to work well for you.
