The official OTA Android 4.3 update(MJB) adds a "Warranty Bit" flag that can be seen in Download mode. I discovered this on a family member's device. My guess is that it either uses an eFUSE that was not previously used or it is just a flag in some partition on the NAND like the old flash counter.
