message_alert contacts default specific

I was wondering if anybody has found a fix for Contact-Specific Message Alerts? It uses the default notification no matter what you set up in Contacts / Message alert. I see the problem all over the web. Some say the fixed it by changing from Messages to Message+, other say they fixed it by...
