Factory Reset

Factory Reset (aka Soft Reset), “cleans” the entire system swiping all the Apps and Data that aren’t part of the Firmware you currently have, restoring default settings.

If you updated from Honeycomb 3.x to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.x you will keep Ice Cream Sandwich 4.x.

As so, if you want to keep your Data (videos, images, books, etc.) and Apps you should make a Backup using Asus AppBackup utility (no need for root), that comes preinstalled on the TF300T (check your App Drawer), or any other like Titanium Backup (needs root), to an external storage (microSD, SD) or to the cloud, DropBox, Google Drive, or whatever you have. Remind yourself to remove the external storage before the Factory Reset. If you have a keyboard dock you should do the Factory Reset with the tablet on the dock.

There's 2 ways to do a Factory Reset:

2 - use a paper clip and press the RESET button (below the microSD slot)

Cold Boot

Cold Boot (aka Hard Reset), doesn't wipe any data so there's no need to backup.

1 - Turn off the tablet.

2 - Press and hold the VOl/DOWN

3 - Then press the POWER button at the same time for about 10-12 seconds until the startup screen appears.

4 - Keep pressing until a small print appears on the top of the screen (you can let go now).

5 - There will be two figures on the center of the screen. One reads "Wipe Data" and the other reads "Android". Just wait and the tablet will take care of himself.
