Magnesium-alloy casing, 4 inch VGA screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 1.2, MMC and SD slot with SDIO, CF slot, 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM, Intel XScale PXA270 624 MHz processor, removable 1800 mAh battery, dual-mode touchpad. Not compatible with previous IPAQ jacket accessories. Proprietary USB 22pin "himalaya" connector. 3.5mm headphone jack accepts iPaq 55xx series 4-pin plugs ( allowing mic and speaker functions ) Ipaq h2xx standard battery (2200mAh) is interchangeable with the hx4700 battery. First release came with WM 2003SE. Pocket Informant 2005 and built-in encryption software was also included.
April 2006 - HP issues a WM5 upgrade.
June 2007 - programmer Kozhura updates the WM5 ROM to an improved WM5 AKU 3.5, fixing many problems of earlier WM5 (AKU 2.02)
August 2007 - Kozhura WM6 ROM for the hx4700.
October 2007 - kitchen adapted by programmer Vivi from the "Scoter Kitchen" using the above WM6 ROM.
June 2008 - WM6.1 roms by several people.
June 2010 - Spiaatie's WM6.5 for the hx4700
How to enter bootloader mode
Press the POWER* iTASK + CONTACTS buttons at the same time and hold all of them. Then shortly press the Reset button on the bottom and release all of them. The screen with HP logo in the middle will appear having the bootloader version at the bottom and the text “Serial” on the top. If you will connect the device to USB, the text “Serial” will change to “USB”.
