Please remember to add a category to the bottom of each page that you create.
See categories help for further details, but most will probably be [[Category:HTC ModelName]].

Basic usage
  • The first parameter is what the member categories sort by, e.g. Template:C would be genre. Template:C would be subject, not country or country and subject, since the topic is actually "paintings by country" (i.e. "paintings by country" categories organized by subject). Please always use the exact word or phrase that comes after "by". Template:C would be Template:Tlc, not simply Template:Tlc. The template may autocategorize multiple "by xxx" into the same flat category, like "by year of completion" categories are currently treated the same as the "by year" ones, however, including the full criteria will enable us to easily separate them in the future if desired.
Advanced usage (under development)
  • The topic parameter is the primary topic or subject of the category. For Template:C you would use |topic=art. When you have topics that fall under multiple topics, it gets a little tricky. Use |topic2= for the secondary topic, which is usually a modifier or qualifier of the primary topic. Examples:
  • If it wouldn't make sense to have a whole category tree based on the subject (which should already exist), it's unnecessary to add it as a topic. The topic must appear in the title; the topic of Template:C is not chemicals or chemistry.
  • If it's unclear what the topic(s) should be, leave it out.

Important: The parameters are case-sensitive because they are used to form category names. Always use lower case unless it's a proper noun.

All categories tagged by this template are automatically categorized in Category:Meta categories. Depending on the parameters, it may autocategorize into one or more categories. Currently, only specific input makes it autocategorize as this is a work in progress but soon to be generalized.

More general templates with similar purpose:

  • {{Categorise}} - use on (non-meta) main categories that also shouldn't contain files directly (or very little).
  • {{CatDiffuse}} - temporary tag when a category needs files sorted into subcategories because it's overcrowded.
