Common Tasks

Check PRI Version

From your home screen:

Menu > Settings > About Phone > Software Information > PRI Version

Check WiMax Version

If you have ADB installed on your computer

1. Plug your phone in
2. Start a command prompt
3. Type 'adb shell' and press enter (without apostrophes)
4. Type 'wimax_mtd' and press enter (without apostrophes)
5. The information you are looking for is at the top of the output on the "Check Firmware Version" line

If you do not have ADB installed on your computer

1. Download and install 'Android Terminal Emulator' from the Market
2. Start 'Android Terminal Emulator'
3. Type 'su'and press enter (without apostrophes)
4. Type 'wimax_mtd' and press enter (without apostrophes)
5. The information you are looking for is at the top of the output on the "Check Firmware Version" line

Check HBOOT Version

1. Power down your phone by holding the power button until the menu appears and select "Power Off"
2. Press and hold the volume down button on your phone (don't let go until I tell you to)
3. Press and hold the power button on your phone (don't let go until I tell you to)
4. Once the screen turns on, go ahead and release both buttons
5. The phone should boot into a special boot screen, at the very top is some text... you can find your HBOOT version within that text.

Changing the ESN and/or MEID

1. Download and install QPST 2.7.366 [1] [2] and the HTC Diag driver [3].
2. Dial ##3424# on your phone and plug it into your computer.
3. Open QPST Configuration and connect to the HTC COM port.
4. Open the EFS Explorer client using QPST Configuration
5. Make a folder called "open sesame door" in the root directory of the phone.
6. Restart your phone and connect to it again the same way. This time, the "nvm" folder will be unlocked in EFS Explorer.
7. Open the "nvm" folder and copy the "0" and "1943" files to your computer. The file named "0" contains your flipped ESN, and the file named "1943" contains your flipped MEID.
8. Change the ESN/MEID to whatever you like (make sure it's flipped) in the files and copy the files back to the phone. Restart the phone, and you're good to go!

Note: A "flipped" ESN or MEID means that the ESN or MEID is reversed in groups of two. For example, if your phone's MEID were A1000012345678, it would become 78 56 34 12 00 00 A1 when flipped. The same applies for the ESN.
