Samsung Focus Tips & Tweaks

Soft Reset: Samsung Focus will be powered down, all settings, apps and data are saved.
Method 1: Hold Down Power Button (Goodbye!)

Hard Reset: Samsung Focus will be returned to its original state with full data wipe.
Method 1: (PREFERRED) Dial ##634# from the phone pad press the call button when the diagnostic screen appears type *2767*3855# to preform a full restore.
Method 2: Hold down the Power button, volume down button, and camera button
Method 3: Go to the Start screen, select Settings. Select the About screen. Select 'reset your phone'

Set Static IP for WIFI connection on Focus You can change the network settings after you connect to the wireless network. Just press and hold the wireless connection name that you succsesfully connected to and you can edit it.

Set APN for Data connection You can set the APN for your carrier to access data connections by clicking the Add APN button in Settings > Cellular. At this time there is no known way to access the MMS APN which is suspected to be in the Network Profile.

Samsung Focus Diagnostic Mode To access the diagnostic program you will need to dial ##634# from the phone pad.

Tethering Currently instructions only apply to AT&T network, USA.

  • Open the phone screen composition
  • Enter the code: # # 634 # > Press Call<br.
  • This will open a new screen will be similar but in test mode
  • Then type in the code * # 7284 # > Press Call
  • See the screen that you see in the picture > Select Tethered
  • The phone will restart
  • Attach the USB cable to your phone and PC and wait for it to install drivers
  • You will see the phone modem and you can configure the data connection
  • number: *99***1#
  • password: CINGULAR1

Click on connect and the Internet tethering would start, while if it does not work for the first time you should retry it a few times before which the connection would successfully work.
