Hi All,

I'm having an issue with dual sim as follows, if I switch the data connection from SIM1 to SIM2 it switches it over to SIM2 and works but SIM1 then stops working completely, e.g. no calls, text messages, no signal registered and in the status it says SIM1 is "disconnected". If I then switch back the data connection to SIM1 it works again and so does SIM2.

Is this a known issue with the version of Android 5.1.1 that Wileyfox are using?

FYI, I've raised it with Wileyfox support and they say the issue doesn't exist, even though I sent them a screencast showing it doing it!!

Thanks.

Andrew.

By chance, are you on a 3G and up contract, from the likes of three?

I know that when you switch data priorities it defaults the non data sim to 2G. So if you are on 3 that will essentially disable the sim like you are seeing as three only provide 2G signal when there is no 3G or 4G signal in that area. They lease the 2G signal from another network, used to be EE but not sure anymore.

Just a thought, have a look at Settings > Sim Cards and select the Sim that is not being used for data, if that is showing Preferred Network Type of 2G, try changing it.

Yes, I'm on 4G on both SIMs, one is on 3 and the other is on EE. I've tried all different combinations of the settings, switching the SIM cards around, etc... however no matter what I try, switching data from SIM1 to SIM2 always disables SIM1 fully. It must be a Android bug / feature.

Ok, I can replicate the issue with 3 in Sim 1 and GiffGaff in Sim2, changing data to Sim 2 sends Sim 1 to 2G only which three doesn't support where I am based and so it effectively kills the sim. Toggling the 3 sim to 3G or 4G sorts it for me.

Tried with Vodafone in Sim 1 and GiffGaff in Sim 2 and toggling between them works seamlessly as both networks have 2G fallback.

Hmm... ok, I will try again and see what I can do but I'm sure I tried switching the SIM cards around before. Thanks.

Hi, I didn't switch the sims to get it to work just the preferred network type for the three sim.

This is the setting that I mean.

It defaults to 2G for the non data sim, but changing it to 3G or 4G brings the three one back to life when it is the secondary sim.

I've tried this and it doesn't work for me, with EE in SIM1 and 3 in SIM2 both work fine when SIM2 (3) is the data connection but as soon as I switch to SIM1 (EE) for the data connection it disables SIM2 (3) completely and the setting you have mentioned is already set to 4G for both SIM's.

That is bizarre.

For me, switching the data sim also switches the preferred type to 2G for the non data sim.

Try something, change the preferences so that EE is doing the data, then reboot and clear caches from recovery (vol down and power from powered off), then reboot system.

You shouldn't need to do that but I am curious if it may clear out the gremlins.

Thanks for the suggestion, tried that, didn't work either.

Yes, I had the same issue, I think its because 3 doesn't support 2G, as soon as I make it T-Mobile is my data provider, the Three sim goes dead. Think I may just port my Three number to another network provider
