I have a 640xl and the phone is really bad on the creator's update due to too many bugs. I want to remain on the anniversary update build 1607 which was perfect. anyone knows of a registry hack to do so ?

You could change the device details in registry tree HKLM – SYSTEM – PLATFORM -DeviceTargetingInfo to
any model with dual sim which will stay on 1607. I guess Lumia 735 should work.

Back up your details though, in case you want to change back.

Yes, a reset will write back default values.

For stop downloading set your time 100 years later .
It will simply fails, reboot and do this regedit :
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Win dowsStore\WindowsUpdate
AutoDownload
set it to 5

thank you, worked finally, had to reset then keep the wifi off during the setting up phase of the phone and while deploying interop tools, i disconnected the router from the internet then i changed the registry to lumia 830 ( doesnt matter if its a two sim phone or 1 sim as the dual sim function will still work ) then i restarted my phone and checked for updates.
Now it shows only updates on the anniversary update branch

I just red your post related to deleting firmware updates on windows phone, can you please help me: When setting date to 100 years into the future, do you go to normal turn off then on of the phone, or you go to settings-> updates (update is already downloaded) and then click restart there (same as you want to install updates)? Thanks
