I've built a 4.12-rc2 kernel for Debian and it works well on my Toshiba Click Mini - got wifi, keyboard, touchpad, touchscreen, battery charge, and backlight control. No sound, not sure why, but it's early days yet.

The Asus T100 G+ group has lots of useful wisdom about Baytrail devices

the R8723bs driver was upstreamed, new kernels include it.

Wifi started working with 4.12 rc2 kernel, but now I lose the touchscreen =(
Is there a chance to add drivers from one kernel to another? I'm not much into this kernel stuff.

PS. Thanks for answers, you guys are great!

you could try my kernel

look for 4.12.0-rc2-jbpm

there's the kernel config I used, as well as the patch set from John Brodie of the aformentioned G+ group.

Have any of you were able to install latest ubuntu17.10.1? My installer is crashing. I tried @Maxximo88 iso and it installed fine. I think that the latest kernel is causing the crash. I used linuxium's isoresipn script on 16.04 ubuntu and installer crashes if i chose to upgrade kernel to the latest version. Do you have any idea how to solve that crash? Thanks. @speculatrix

Hi, I've built newer kernels since then, I put them in the same place.
The number of patches required to make a usable kernel for baytrail cpus like the z3735 has reduced considerably with each new kernel release.
I'd probably start with linuxium's installers myself if I was starting from scratch, and if I had to tweak something, start with his kernel config and sources and install my own kernel after installing Linux.

As to your problem with trying to upgrade to 17.10, just keep an older kernel and remove the one installed from the Ubuntu upgrade.

There's a small group of us with Toshiba click minis hanging out on the following mailing list, and there's a list archive too

One problem we have is getting Bluetooth to work. Maybe we're loading the wrong firmware. The sdio serial device appears but the hci attach fails to get a response from the Bluetooth module in the 8723. WiFi works fine.
