This may be a stupid question but will this work on any 5.1 rom or only cm12.1?

Should work on any ROM based on Android 5.1.

Phone didn't go into deep sleep for me after flashing the kernel. I've attached screenshots showing the same. Problem persisted even after turning off dt2w. Tried clearing cache too, didn't work.

Tap2wake worked exactly as expected, even with single tap, as you already said.

Yes I can confirm that it doesn't go to deepsleep. @corphish need some logs to find out what is causing it ??

It won't get into deep sleep state. Perks of the wake gesture (not only for us but for any phone). So as a side-effect, battery performance is reduced.

not necessarily.

the device should go into deep sleep regardless since the two (touch panel staying awake && device going to sleep) aren't correlated.

something is wrong, i guess. wrt. irq handling.

Update 1.2
Here comes update 1.2

Changelog
  • SingleTap2Wake should be reduced, though, is not fully eliminated.
  • Changed LED colurs while booting to distinguish kernel. Light Blue for normal boot, light green in recovery.

Download Link updated in OP.

About Recover Key Combo issue - I have realised why recovery key combo is broken, but cannot do much about it. In short, the situation be like, DoubleTap2Wake or Recovery Key Combo.

Also this is the last release for Android 5.1, before Varun outs another beta. Reason : Frequent BSoDs.

Update!! Here it comes, finally

Changelog
  • Added Support for Android 5.0.2
  • Switched to a different input sync method to improve doubletap2wake and reduce single tap to wake. They are not fully eliminated though
  • Changed LED colours while booting, for a distinction
  • Slightly increased vibration duration while booting to recovery
  • Music Mode Added, fully written by me and described below
  • Interactive Script to control kernel key features with ease, written by me, described below
  • 'A little bit smarter' Flashable Zip

Recovery Key Combo still doesn't work .

Download - http://devhost.xda-developers.com/2nrW

About Flashable Zip?
The zip packs kernel and modules for both Android 5.0 and 5.1. But no need to worry, while flashing, it will automatically detect which version you are running, and flash the suitable version. Smart eh?

About Interactive Gesture Script?
After flashing the zip, reboot, let the system settle if you allow, then open terminal and type -
Code:
su
Press Enter, and then type,
Code:
gesture
What you see should be pretty easy to understand, and easy to use as well.
As you will see, there are now 3 options - none, dt2w and Music Mode.

Note : By default, Music Mode is turned on after every boot.

About Music Mode?
It allows media control by interacting with the touch when its off.
When on, the central region (along horizontal) behaves as media buttons. The central part is play/pause button, left part of play/pause button is previous button while right part is next button.
There maybe some confusion, so I will post a pic explaining the same shortly.
