Unable to use any ext4
Hi everybody,

For a couple of days I'm trying to make an X8 work with a 2-nd ext4 partition on the SD card, but fail.

On the phone I have:
- rooted the phone (SuperOneClick 2.3.3);
- unlocked the bootloader (Flashtool 0.6.8.0);
- installed xRecovery (only option for E15i in Flashtool 0.6.8.0);
- installed GingerDX v031b + gapps (NOTE: For an unknown reason I get CWM Recovery 4.0.1.5 instead of 5.0.2.8);

On the SD card (1.83GiB) I have (using GParted 0.22.0):
- created a partition table "msdos" ;
- created a primary partition "fat32" at the start (847.15 MiB aligned to cylinder) + boot flag;
- created a primary partition "ext4" at the end (1.00 GiB aligned to cylinder);

I have tried any combination of positioning and flagging the 2 partitions on 3 different SD cards:
1-st fat32+boot flag, 2-nd ext4
1-st fat32, 2-nd ext4+boot flag
1-st fat32, 2-nd ext4, no boot flag on any
1-st ext4+boot flag,2-nd fat32
1-st ext4,2-nd fat32+boot flag
1-st ext4,2-nd fat32, no boot flag on any

I either get the fat32 only, or the ext4 only, but never both of them in CWM 4.0.1.5 (mounts and storage) and GingerDX.
What can I do to get them both?

Strange nobody drop a note…
It's true this device has long been forgotten, but I would still appreciate anybody sharing memories regarding this ROM, its support for ext4 and its specific requirements for the SD partitioning.

To me it looks like neither CWM 4.0.1.5 supports 2 partitions on SD, nor the ROM itself supports ext4 (I am with stock kernel).
Regarding CWM 4.0.1.5, I have tried with the SD card from my HTC Legend (fat32, ext4; CM7.2 20150301-NIGHTLY), which is fully working and get the same result - able to mount fat32, not able to mount ext4 ("Error mounting /sd-ext!").
Regarding GingerFX v0.31b, I have tried to enable the integrated "A2SD (ext) settings", both modes ("a2sd" and "dc2sd") and in "A2SD Information" I always get:
Code:
A2SD Information
× Problem detected: Apps2SD may
not have ran
  during boot. Cannot read
a2sd:mountpoint.
Partitions supported with this
ROM:
   × EXT3 Partition Not Supported
   × EXT4 Partition Not Supported
   NOTICE EXT2 is not supported
by this a2sd
     if your /sd-ext is EXT2
     please run 'a2sd formatext'
     to upgrade to ext4
× Problem detected: Apps2SD may
not have ran
  during boot. Cannot read
a2sd:mountpoint.
Displaying Disk Space statistics on SD card
× /sd-ext not mounted properly
× Aborting
Do I read it properly that this ROM does not support ext3 and ext4?!

Trying to use S2E gets me no further:
Code:
Initialization...
Ext partition found: /dev/block/mmcblk0p2

Use built-in tune2fs
Use built-in e2fsck

Setup read_ahead value

Start mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 as ext4
Setup options to /dev/block/mmcblk0p2:
tune2fs 1.41.12 (17-May-2010)
checking /dev/block/mmcblk0p2:
Pass 1: Checking inodes, blocks, and sizes
Pass2: Checking directory structure
Pass 3: Checking directory connectivity
Pass 4: Checking reference counts
Pass 5: Checking group summary information
sd-ext: 11/65280 files (0,0% non-contiguous),
4427/261056 blocks
Disabling journaling on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2:
tune2fs 1.41.12 (17-May-2010)
tune2fs 1.41.12 (17-May-2010)

Mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p2...

/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 not mounted... Exit!
How do I get ext4 to work on this device with this ROM and stock kernel?
