Of course you lose all Sony-only features when you install an AOSP-ROM. Only Sony-ROMs contain the Sony-apps :p

But there are substitutes, e.g. you can use the sixaxis controller app for connecting a PS3-controller. It is better then the Sony one anyways, because you can simulate touch-inputs with the controller.

I do not miss any Sony feature, but your mileage could vary. Just try it out for yourself.

I can't install this or any other custom ROM as 'recovery' says: I need the 521/5**/5** version. I have the Xperia Z2 LTE Tablet 521! LOL. Any thoughts??

The tablet is Castor.
I'm on stock ROM: 17.1.2.A.0.314.
Unlocked boot-loader and rooted.
Flashtool was used to install the stock ROM, as I used ADB the first time, which is tedious.
I have installed via Flashtool, a few times, with no problems.
Tablet info reports that I am using SGP521 and all is up to date.
Recovery (Philztouch and CWM) says that it is unable to install (any) custom ROM, as it needs a tablet which supports SGP521/SGP5**/
This tablet is definitely a SGP521 machine and is running a stock SGP521 ROM.
The custom ROM's are ZIP-files and were tried using recovery.
Stock ROM was installed with Flashtools.

I may have the answer: Flashify, reports that tablet does not have a boot or recovery partitions. This must be due to having installed the 'dual-boot' recovery. Therefore, Your ROM must be installed on just a rooted stock ROM.

---------- Post added at 03:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:51 PM ----------

All custom ROMS have had the 'dual-boot' recovery reply with: "the device must be able to flash SGP521 etc, to run this ROM."
Lol.

Look, don't try all kindz of stuff...
there's only one way to install cm roms.
u unlock bootloader--->make sure it is

u put rom onto sd card

u fastboot included kernel with flashtool or cmd

u boot into recovery (wich is included in all custom kernel)

u make required wipes

u flash rom and gapps

I have already copied ROM onto SD card.
I have tried to flash with fastboot and boot.img but the img was on the PC, not the SD card.
I will try flashtool/fastboot with the boot.img, on the SD..
Thanks for your patience.

huh ?? the whole zip not modified on the sd and on the PC u open that zip and fastboot flash that kernel.

Whats the issue while flashing the kernel ? it says operation refused?
did u installed flashtool at your C:/ partition? at root of it?
In C:/FlashTool/drivers did u installed these drivers? 4 bowes need to be ticked:
fastboot drivers
flashmode
adb
drivers for Z2/tab Z2

Did u turned off antivirus program while flashing?

And if u are on stock rom; please bring back screenshot of your config menu with status of BL saying unlocked...thanks

i don't wanna pi*ss u off ...i just make sure to eliminate all causes

Hmm. I had unlocked my boot-loader, a week ago, when first receiving the tablet. Somehow, it had become locked again. I have unlocked it again.
I have now installed the ROM!!
I did not know that the boot-loader was locked but I assume it locks again when flashing a stock ROM?, even though it had been rooted and had the dual-boot installed, afterwards.
Once again: thanks for your time.

No prob buddy =)

It usually locks when u uses sus seus or these soft, wich now are obsolete or maybe pcc

it is not relocking with stock rom and flashtool that's for sure, or else u hit blu button by mistake...

enjoy Carbon =)

    About Carbon

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.

Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.

We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.

Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.

While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

    Support

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:

    1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.

    2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!

    3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.

    4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.

    5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Installing this ROM lose the power play with the playstation controller and the remote ??
    Thank you.
