But what about the crashes and bootloops?

Yes the Xposed installer app. Without logs of any kind, I couldn't possibly know why your device is crashing.

Phone crashed on previous message. Sorry.

Background:
Lineageos 14.1 with MicroG and xposed. Worked fine for a long time. Magisk
Nexus 5

Problem;
Repeated phone crashes and bootloops hard to get out of.

I was asked for a log: cannot attach file because of repeated 'network error'. So will paste as text.

Hi,

I've got a quite particular problem related to Xposed - or at least I guess it's related to and I'll explain why.

The problem is that it happened many times my SMS app (Textra) wasn't my default app anymore after a reboot, neither findable by my phone (I could enter the app and click on "set as default app" but the next overlayed window was only showing Messenger as option), which automatically authorized Messenger (Facebook) to be the default app. I've got the stock SMS app (called "SMS/MMS") but even this one wasn't findable and proposed to be used.

I looked for what could be the origin of the problem :
- re flashed my Ressurection Remix ROM + Xenial Kernel
- uninstalled + re installed Textra
- uninstalled + re Messenger
- uninstalled + re installed Magisk
- uninstalled + re installed Xposed
- installed systemless Xposed framework to work with Magisk (that changed nothing)

And I found that Xposed was interfering in some way.

One hour ago I just desactived Xposed without uninstalling the framework and app, wiped cache + dalvik, rebooted, and... tadaaam, Textra was findable and I was able to set it as SMS default app.

So I guess now this problem is related in some way to Xposed but I'm no tech/dev, I've no idea why.

Any of you might have a clue about this ? And how to resolve the problem ?

I checked my logs on Xposed, there' no real information as it only tells when it actived/desactived, but I can publish them here if needed.

Thanks !

Could be an xposed module and not Xposed itself. What modules are you using? And try a full Android log, not just Xposed log. It's easy. You can use an app like catlog or something like that.

Oh yeah, don't post a huge log here, put it somewhere like pastebin and share the link here

Hey Madbat99, thanks for your reply.

Funny yet not funny : I replaced/added some modules to Xposed and the problem was gone.
At first, I only have :
- 3C Toolbox Pro
- AFWall+
- CustomShare
- Greenify
- Lucky Patcher

I added :
- Amplify
- Fake my GPS
- No Lock Home
- XprivacyLua
- BootManager*
- NotifyClean*

* to install them, I was forced to delete CustomShare and install the three of them from Xposed, as there was a "package conflict" otherwise.

Frankly, I really don't know what could have changed to make the problem disappear. And I believe it may happen again after a reboot, as I already experienced it many times.

So I'll upload an app to save my logs as you suggested and, as soon as the problem comes back, I'll post it here, quoting your message to link it to the context.

I hope this way it can benefit to all.

Thanks again.
