I have TWRP with the Official LineageOS 14.1 and have no issues at all.
The way the BYOP program works is, in my case having a Verizon device, that the device still uses the towers for the company where the device was created for but, billed under the company with the BYOP.
Safelink doesn't own its own towers, it leases the use of the towers from the companies who own them.

Yes, you explained it pretty well. Though I'm fairly well versed in telecom it's always nice to go back to basics so to speak.
I had no issues installing Xposed on this device. Though now I've switched to Linage 14.1 I believe. So according to your experience, Linage has no major issues with Xposed? I know that some ROMS do and though I was familiar with the old CM, I'm only just now getting up to speed on Lineage from a low to mid level development standpoint.
I do have a good nandroid backup so it's pretty hard (though not impossible ) to brick the device beyond resurrection. That reminds me, I'd better get stock firmware while I'm here tonight.
