Kudos to op for pointing out this nice find, it makes me feel like a fully custom recovery is not far off. For me, though, with the pre-rooted images already out, it feels like an added step having to go through CWM for a one-off to achieve root. I like that this phone is receiving developer attention, though!

you need a computer, coz you can't executed cai_dat_CWM.bat on your phone..

i tried to execute .bat on linux with wine but it didn't work. I think i'll have to rewrite a linux-shell script.

Look at this thread and you'll find a linux version of the Tethered CWM Recovery, but it's not updated to the latest version, so it doesn't include trigger 4, which is the one needed for Zenfone 2, if I understood everything well.

Well, the backup does work, but it's not functional. I imagine it will come soon. I was planning on pulling the backup, but I can't even find it. It's supposed to be under /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup, but the backup folder never gets created. The space is taken up, but it doesn't show up properly.

There's something very wonky about it right now. I would suggest waiting until it's figured out.

I had forgotten to look where the backup was stored but the restore runs without an error but after restore my phone hangs in Asus bootscreen and after a while it reboot into recovery. No way to normal boot and i must reflash
